Full Governing Board
Hello and Welcome to St Mary Star of the Sea's Governors Section
The Shadow Governing Body (SGB) has been replaced by a Full Governing Board (FGB) . St Mary Star of the Sea now has a newly constituted Full Governing Board, with effect from 1st October 2020.
The main functions of a Governing Board are to ensure clarity of the school’s vision and purpose, to hold the Headteacher and staff to account and to oversee the school’s financial performance. In our case, we also ensure that the school retains its distinctiveness as a Catholic school, based on Gospel values.
Our new Instrument of Government specifies that there shall be twelve Governors, representing our Diocese/Bishop (Foundation Governors), the parent body, the staff, and the Local Authority. The role of a Governor is voluntary, but it is a privilege to work as a team to serve the best interests of our school.
Please look at our profiles to find out more about us and see the Minutes of our meetings which are published after approval by the Board.
