Live, love and learn in God's name

Dear Parents and Carers,

My name is Claire O’Rourke and I am very proud to be writing to you all as the new headteacher of St Mary Star of the Sea. I am excited to lead what I believe is a school with huge potential. I have the very highest expectations of all the staff and children, and I know, by working together to raise standards in every area, we will ensure all children achieve their full potential.

I value the links between school, home and parish and recognise the shared responsibility we have in the development of all our children. As a Catholic community, we should endeavour to celebrate the successes of our children in all areas of school life. We can do this by showing them that we believe in them, respect them and are proud of them.

As the leader of the school, my main job is to make sure your child is safe, happy and making progress. I believe children should feel welcome, inspired and supported when they are learning. The staff and I will be spending the next few weeks making sure all the children settle into their new classes and are clear about the high expectations we have of them.

I look forward to meeting you all as parents over the coming academic year, and to working in partnership with you to achieve the very best for your child.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs C O’Rourke
